Launched in July 2012, Renault Duster has become the largest selling SUV in India in a short span. Its compact design, just-right feature stack, amazing performance and Renault badge are few of the reasons why it has gone to become the most awarded SUV of the year.
With refined yet muscular looks, Duster delivers a superb performance. Based on an extended Logan platform, it's 4.31 m length and 1.82 m width gives it wide and stable stance even on the sharp curves. With a ground clearance of 205 mm and 16 inch wheels, it swiftly handle the Indian roads. Dual tone interiors are simple and elegant and do not attempt to be forcefully fancy. Renault Duster beautifully combines the comfort of a sedan with the ruggedness of an SUV. All the key features expected in this price bracket are packed into Duster viz. front fog lamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs, Rear parking sensors, Key-less entry, ABS with Brake Assist & EBD, Airbags, USB, AUX-IN, Bluetooth Connectivity and GPS Navigation.
It is available in three engine options:
- 1600 cc Petrol generating 104 PS at 5850 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 3750 rpm
- 1500 cc dCi K9K Diesel generating 85 PS at 3750 rpm
- 1500 cc dCi K9K Diesel generating 110 PS at 3900 rpm
Duster's power to weight ratio is quite good, making it instantly responsive and agile on the road. Due to the usage of alloys, it weighs only 1310 kg. Renault claims a mileage of 13.4 kmpl for Pertrol and 20.45 kmpl for Diesel - 85 PS variant. For the 110 PS version its 19.01 kmpl. Starting variants in both petrol and diesel come with a 5 speed manual gear box whereas the 110 PS version comes with a 6 speed manual gearbox.Variants and Price (India)
: While all the 3 variants mentioned above are two wheel drive (2x2) with price ranging from Rs. 7,91,000 to Rs. 12,11,100, a four-wheel version in 2000cc engine capacity is available in few other markets. Interestingly exports for 4x4 wheel drive has already started from India (at Renault's Chennai facility) to UK and Ireland. Which means Renault is soon expected to launch it for Indian market as well.
